About the Institute of Directors Center for Corporate Governance
On the 17th of May, 2006, this institute became a legal body. It is a collaborative project between three organizations:
The Institute of Directors Nigeria, an affiliate of the Institute of Directors in the United Kingdom and a member of the African Corporate Governance Network.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the regulatory authority for the Nigerian capital market, and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the sole government agency responsible for the regulation of the Nigerian capital market, are the two most important organizations in Nigeria for director development.
Through advocacy, research, high-quality training, and Corporate Governance consultancy mandates, the IoD Center for Corporate Governance is a recognized non-profit organization dedicated to advancing and supporting strong corporate governance principles, standards, and practices in Nigeria.
The Center is in the forefront of advocating for private and public sector organizations to adopt leading practices, thereby contributing to and advancing best and leading practices and a culture of good corporate governance.
The African Corporate Governance Network (ACGN) has granted this institute of directors center for corporate governance permission to use the ACGN’s logo.
The Centre collaborates with the Washington, DC-based Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE).

1. Programmes & Membership Officer
Location: Lagos
Job Type : Full-time
Under the direction of: The Head, Programmes & Membership Services
Functions Overview
All matters connected to the Center’s Programs and Membership activities will be handled by the Programme and Membership Officer.
Expectations for duties and activities include, but are not limited to, the capacity to:
- Design and execute marketing and service strategies for the Center’s corporate membership.
- Prepare concept notes for the Center’s programs.
- Create and implement marketing strategies for the Center’s Training Programs and In-plants.
- With the assistance of the Admin. Officer, oversee administrative duties in the Programmes & Membership Department, including filing and database management.
- Workshops, seminars, and other capacity-building programs on corporate governance and related topics require effective coordination, promotion, and timely reporting.
- Ensure timely delivery of the Center’s membership and training materials by coordinating with vendors and suppliers.
- Maintain proper files and records while overseeing the receipt and dispatch of correspondence.
- Potential corporate members are effectively identified and recruited.
- Analyze feedback forms after each training and ensure that recommendations for improvement are followed up on.
- Ensure that the Program and Membership are prepared ahead of time. Budget for Marketing.
- As appropriate, manage and produce program content for the Center’s website.
- Contribute to the organization’s overall survival.
- Interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization and do other tasks as assigned by the department head and the executive director/CEO.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, law, or a related subject is required.
- Professional Qualification: A postgraduate degree or any other appropriate professional qualification will be a plus.
Skills & Experience
- 3 years’ experience in a similar role or functions is required.

2. Corporate Governance Advisory, Research & Publications Officer
Location: Lagos
Job Type : Full-time
Under the direction of: The Head, CG Advisory, Research & Publications
Functions Overview
All matters connected to the Center’s Corporate Governance services, research functions, and publications will be handled by the CG Advisory, Research, and Publications Officer.
Expectations for duties and activities include, but are not limited to, the capacity to:
- Build the Center’s reputation as a respected source of corporate governance and associated research and evidence-based advocacy.
- Identify possible grant opportunities, write grant submissions, and assist with grant completion and submission.
- Develop annual and quarterly research work plans based on project requirements.
- Board evaluation, corporate governance frameworks, board induction, in-plant training, and other corporate governance projects are available on the market.
- Collaborate with department leaders to seek commercial sector/international organization partnership for research initiatives and to acquire research funds.
- Determine and manage marketing strategies for the Center’s publication sales in order to meet and surpass annual publication sales targets.
- Assist in the planning, marketing, and timely reporting of workshops, seminars, and other capacity-building programs on corporate governance and related topics.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop workshop/training/courses/certification concepts based on research findings.
- Assist in the compilation of the Center’s Research and Publication Budget, as well as the upkeep of the research database.
- Ensure timely delivery of the Center’s research papers by coordinating with vendors and suppliers.
- Maintain relevant files and records pertaining to Research & Publication, as well as oversee the receipt and delivery of correspondence.
- As needed, manage and produce research and publication content for the Center’s website (newsletters, corporate governance publications, and journals).
- Analyze and solve research concerns as soon as possible.
- Assist the Board Secretary with meeting preparation.
- Interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the department heads and the CEO.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, statistics, law, or a related discipline is required.

3. Head of Advisory Research and Publications for Corporate Governance (Senior Manager Position)

Under the direction of: The Executive Director/CEO
Functions Overview
The Head, CG Advisory, Research & Publications will in charge for developing content for the Center’s Corporate Governance services, as well as providing sustainable high-quality research, research funding, and regular publications that support the Center’s objectives of advocacy, inculcation, and acculturation of good corporate governance principles in Nigeria.
The individual will also serve as the Board Secretary; responsibilities and activity expectations include, but are not limited to, the capacity to:
- Conceptualize, conduct, and publish policy-relevant research on corporate governance, ethics, anti-corruption compliance, regulations, and other related topics.
- Create information for the Center’s different Corporate Governance Services, such as Board Evaluation, Corporate Governance Evaluation/Audit, and Board Induction, among others.
- Work with the Director of Programs and Membership Marketing to develop workshops, trainings, courses, and certifications based on research, as well as corporate governance research and publications for the benefit of the Center and its stakeholders, particularly members.
- Provide complete board support to the Center’s Board of Governors, including agenda formulation, board pack collation and delivery, board meeting administration, including detailed board minutes, and so on.
- Participate in the formulation of the Corporate Governance rules and procedures framework, as well as a thorough understanding of Board Evaluation, to ensure that the Center meets its objectives and targets.
- Build the Center’s reputation as a respected source of corporate governance and associated research and evidence-based advocacy.
- For research and forums, seek relationships with the commercial sector and international organizations.
- To support the Center’s research activities, seek out research funding.
- Quarterly publications, specific sectoral reports, periodicals, and newsletters are all published on a regular basis.
- Develop and conceptualize the Center’s library (including an e-library), and seek book and resource donations from international and/or local organizations/publishers.

Qualifications

Experience
Minimum of 5-10 years of corporate experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial position in the construction of a corporate governance framework, board evaluation, and delegation of authority matrix development.

4. Head of Membership Services and Programs (Senior Manager Position)

Functions Overview
The Head, Programmes & Membership will be in charge of producing material for the Center’s programs, initiating and defining goals for programs in accordance with the Center’s strategic objectives, and directing and overseeing the organization’s membership operations.
Expectations for duties and activities include, but are not limited to, the capacity to:
- Initiate and define targets for programs in accordance with the organization’s strategic objectives.
- Create content for corporate governance, anti-corruption, and ethics compliance training.
- Obtain support for the Center’s programs from key stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
- Create high-impact programs that will attract funding from both development partners and multilateral organizations, as well as local partners.
- Concepts and presentations for training and programs are written.
- Plan the programs from beginning to end, taking into account deadlines, milestones, and processes.
- Demonstrate strong marketing skills in order to achieve membership recruitment, program participation, and training participation goals.
- Direct and supervise the Center’s membership efforts.
- Develop programs, activities, and policies aimed at increasing the Center’s membership.
- Budgets for Programs and Membership should be developed or approved.
- Create evaluation strategies to track performance and determine where improvements are needed.
- To provide feedback and handle complex challenges, supervise all program and project officers involved.

- Excellent understanding of important KPIs and performance evaluation approaches.
- Data analysis, reporting, and budgeting are all areas where you excel.
