With the use of a handheld scanner to track the location of each product in the store, Target stockers find items quickly for customers when they come into the store looking for something specific. A Target stocker has a wide range of duties. He

  1. Checks the conditions of all items before they are displayed 
  2. Returns bad and expired items 
  3. Organizes good ones on the shelves
  4. Ensures that merchandise is properly displayed and priced according to the company’s standard
  5. Keeps a record of the items and monitors inventory eves to ensure that items are restocked when needed
  6. Receives orders at the store
  7. Maintains a safe work environment by following safety policies and procedures
  8. Communicates with other departments in the store to ensure accurate availability of products
  9. Receives deliveries of new merchandise unpack boxes and set items on shelves
  10. Receives and processes customer orders for items not currently in stock. 
  11. Maintains an inventory of merchandise and supplies by scanning barcodes or manually entering information into a computer.

2. Education Qualification

Target stockers are required to have at least a high school diploma or its equivalent. However, completing a certificate program in retail or a related field may be preferred.

3. Certifications

Stockers do not require any certifications to earn their position at Target. However, there are certifications available for stockers who wish to increase their earning capacity.  

4. Experience And Training

Stocers at Target receive training on the job from supervisors and managers. The training covers all crucial aspects including the store’s layout, how to use the store’s computer systems and cash registers,  the products they carry, and the inventory management system they use.

  • Median Annual Salary – $47,000 ($22.6 per hour)

Target dress code is uniform for retail and warehouse employees and business casual for management and corporate positions.

The uniform for Target stockers is a red top and khaki slacks or skirts. While some stores provide workers with red company shirts with logos and seasonal promotions, some allow their workers to put on any red top of their choice whether a hoodie, sweater, or polo. 

The company does not limit personal expression and typically permits unnatural hair colors, piercings, and visible tattoos. 

For shoes, the company wants the stockers to wear comfortable shoes since they will be on their feet for a long period. However, worn-out shoes and flip-flops are not allowed. 

Stocers at Target are expected to look professional even if it permits personal expression. Target employees are prohibited from wearing the following;
